Code of Ethical Conduct and Professional Standards

The Code of Ethical Conduct and Professional Standards for BEX® (Business Excellence Practitioner Certification) aims to promote ethical behavior, professional standards, and conduct for individuals who hold BEX® certification. Adherence to this code is mandatory for all BEX® certified professionals.

Integrity: BEX® certified professionals must conduct themselves with integrity, honesty, and fairness in all their professional and business activities. They must avoid engaging in any activity that undermines the integrity of the BEX® certification program.

Professionalism: BEX® certified professionals must uphold high standards of professionalism in all their business interactions, including treating others with respect, maintaining confidentiality, and behaving in a courteous manner.

Competence: BEX® certified professionals must maintain and improve their professional knowledge, skills, and competence to provide quality services to their clients. They must also provide accurate and honest representations of their professional qualifications, experience, and expertise.

Objectivity: BEX® certified professionals must maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest in all their business activities. They must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and refrain from engaging in any activity that could compromise their objectivity.

Confidentiality: BEX® certified professionals must maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained in the course of their professional activities, except when required by law or with the explicit consent of the client.

Responsibility: BEX® certified professionals must take responsibility for their actions and decisions, including their professional advice and recommendations. They must also ensure that their clients understand the implications of their advice and recommendations.

Compliance: BEX® certified professionals must comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards governing their professional activities. They must also report any violations of these laws or standards.

1.0 RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE PROFESSION

1.1 Compliance with BEX® Certification Rules and Policies

As a Business Excellence Practitioner, I will comply with all rules and policies set forth by the BEX® Certification Program. This includes adhering to ethical standards, maintaining the confidentiality of exam materials, and providing accurate information on all certification applications.

1.2 Compliance with all Organizational Rules and Policies

I will comply with all rules and policies set forth by my employer or client, including maintaining the confidentiality of all sensitive or proprietary information, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations, and conducting myself in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

1.3 Candidates Professional Practice

I will maintain the highest level of professionalism and ethical conduct in all aspects of my professional practice, including but not limited to, communication with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders, managing conflicts of interest, and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of all project documentation and deliverables.

1.4 Advancement of the Profession

I will contribute to the advancement of the Business Excellence Practitioner profession by engaging in ongoing professional development, sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues, and promoting the value and importance of business excellence practices to the broader business community.

2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE CLIENT AND THE PUBLIC

2.1 Qualifications, Experience, and Performance of Professional Duties

As a Business Excellence Practitioner, I will provide services only in areas where I have the appropriate qualifications, experience, and expertise. I will maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to the highest ethical standards in all aspects of my work, including the quality and accuracy of deliverables, effective communication with clients and stakeholders, and the timely and efficient completion of all projects.

2.2 Conflict of Interest Situations and Other Prohibited Professional Situations

I will manage conflicts of interest and other prohibited professional situations in an ethical and transparent manner, disclosing any potential conflicts of interest to clients and stakeholders and taking appropriate measures to mitigate any potential negative impacts. I will avoid engaging in any activities that may compromise my professional integrity or create the perception of impropriety.

BEX® Certification and Recertification
Terms and Conditions

CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ - Certification Application/Fee:

​

By submitting an application for BEX® certification, the applicant agrees to the following terms and conditions:

​

  1. The application is the property of Business Excellence Practitioner Certification (BEX®) and is protected by copyright. Once the application is complete, it is confidential.

  2. By creating an account with BEX® and submitting the online application, the applicant understands that BEX® may contact them regarding their account and online application.

  3. The applicant consents to BEX® collecting and storing the information provided in the application, in accordance with the Privacy Policy, and contacting the stated references and contacts to confirm any or all information in the online application.

  4. The application fee is non-transferable between products and individuals and non-refundable. If the application is approved, the applicant has one year from the time the approval email is sent by BEX® to take the exam before the application lapses. If the application lapses, the applicant must reapply and repay the application fee.


CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Exam and Exam Rewrite Fees:

By paying the exam and exam rewrite fees, the applicant agrees to the following terms and conditions:

​

  1. Exam candidates have 12 months from the day BEX® received an exam or exam rewrite fee to request a refund.

  2. After such time, the candidate’s exam or exam rewrite fee payment will become non-refundable, and the candidate will forfeit their payment. This means that in order to schedule and sit the exam, the candidate will need to repay the exam or exam rewrite fee.

  3. To receive a refund of the exam or exam rewrite fee payment within the 12-month eligibility period, candidates must first cancel their scheduled exam, and then e-mail their refund request to certification@bex.org.

  4. If a candidate misses their scheduled exam date without cancelling or rescheduling in advance and paying the necessary fee as per the policy on the Exam Information webpage, the candidate will be considered a no-show. This means the candidate will have to forfeit their exam fee or exam rewrite fee already paid (unless there is an extenuating circumstance) and will have to repay the exam fee or exam rewrite fee to schedule and sit the exam.


BEX® Certification and Recertification - Terms and Conditions


CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ - Marks:

By using the CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ marks, the recipient in good standing (i.e., those who successfully pass the exam and recertify when required on time) agrees to the following terms and conditions:

​

  1. The recipient is granted a limited, non-exclusive, and revocable license and permission to use the CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Marks for the term that the recipient is in good standing in accordance with the terms and conditions.

  2. The recipient agrees to use the CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Marks in accordance with the standards set out in the BEX® Terms of Use.

  3. The recipient agrees to terminate the use of the CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Marks in the event the certificate/certification is revoked or the recipient is no longer in good standing.

  4. BEX® reserves the right to revoke the license herein at its sole discretion at any time.


CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Recertification Application Fees

I agree to the terms and conditions listed below for submission and payment of a recertification application:

  • This application is the property of Business Excellence Practitioner Certification (BEX®) and is protected by copyright. Once the application is complete, it is confidential.

  • By submitting my online application, I understand that BEX® may contact me regarding my account and online application.

  • I consent to BEX® collecting and storing the foregoing information, in accordance with the Privacy Policy, and contacting my stated contacts to confirm any or all information in my online application.

  • I understand that the recertification fee is non-transferable between products and individuals and non-refundable.

  • I understand that it is my responsibility to maintain my certification and recertify before my certification expires. If I fail to recertify before my certification expires, my certification will lapse, and I will lose my right to use the CEBE™, CEQA™, CBPA™ and CBEA™ Marks.

  • I understand that I can only recertify if I am in good standing and have met the recertification requirements set out by BEX®.

  • I understand that if I do not meet the recertification requirements or my certification has lapsed, I will need to reapply and repay the full certification fee to become certified again.

Our commitment to protecting your personal information is a top priority at Business Excellence Practitioner Certification (BEX®) and our Chapters (referred to collectively as “BEX®,” “we,” or “us”). We understand the importance of your privacy and want to ensure that you are informed about how we collect, store, use, and share information about you when you interact with or use our websites (referred to collectively as the “BEX® sites”), attend any related events or trade shows, receive sales or marketing materials, and/or use any of our products or services (referred to collectively as the “Services”). Please take a moment to read the following details regarding our privacy policy.

Who are we and what do we do?
BEX® is an organization that aims to establish and uphold standards of business excellence for certifying practitioners throughout Africa. We welcome international professionals to become members and participate in local country and city Chapters. To achieve our vision and communicate with members, we use various methods, such as meetings, conferences, official websites, newsletters, and email communications. Most of these methods require the use of personal information.

What does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy covers how we collect, store, use, and disclose information about you when you interact or use our BEX® sites and Services or when you contact us in any manner. We collect various types of information, including Personal Information that identifies you as an individual, from our users.

Does BEX® collect Sensitive Data?
Sensitive Data includes personal data that reveals an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, criminal proceedings, biometrics, and data concerning health. We do not intentionally collect or request Sensitive Data. If a BEX® employee discovers that we have received Sensitive Data, the employee will inform a designated contact within our company who will assess the processing of such data.

Information Collected by BEX®:
At BEX®, we collect different types of information to offer and improve our Services to you. We take your privacy seriously and only collect information that is necessary for providing our Services. The information we collect is classified as Personal Information or Personal Data, and we collect it in two ways: information you provide to us and data that we collect automatically.

Personal Information Provided by You:
We collect Personal Information that you provide to us when you use our BEX® sites or Services. This may include your first name, last name, usernames, email addresses, birthday, postal addresses, phone numbers, job titles, transactional information, event attendance, videos, and pictures. Additionally, you may choose to provide other contact or other information by uploading it to our systems in connection with our Services.

Financial Transactions and Information:
When you execute a financial transaction with us online, such as membership, donations, or online conference registration, we do not collect your financial information. We only retain information that the financial transaction has successfully completed. We process online financial transactions, such as credit card payments, with PCI compliant third-party providers to ensure the safety and security of your financial information.

Information Collection and Usage

Personal Information that You Provide to Us

When using our BEX® sites or Services, you may provide us with your Personal Information. This information includes your name, username, email address, postal address, phone number, job title, transactional information, and other contact information that you choose to provide. We use this information to provide you with the Services and fulfill your orders and requests.

Financial Information

We do not collect your financial information. We only retain information that your financial transaction has successfully completed. Online financial transactions, such as credit card payment, are processed with PCI compliant third-party providers.

Data We Automatically Collect

When you use our BEX® sites, we may automatically collect certain information about your device, such as your device’s IP address, referring website, and the pages that you visit. We also use application audit controls and log files to track user activity on our sites.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the Personal Information that we collect for the following purposes:

Provision of Services: We use your Personal Information to provide and operate our BEX® sites and Services, fulfill your orders and requests, process your payments, and perform upgrades and maintenance.

Customer Support: We use your Personal Information to communicate with you about your use of the Services, respond to your communications and inquiries, provide technical support, and other customer service and support purposes.

Personalization: We use your Personal Information to tailor content that we send or display to you, to offer location customization and personalized help and instructions, and to otherwise personalize your experience using the Services.

If you are in a jurisdiction that requires opt-in consent to receive electronic marketing messages, we will only send you such messages if you opt-in to receive them. You may opt-out of receiving marketing emails by following the opt-out instructions in the email.

Advertising: We use your Personal Information to assist in advertising the Services on third-party websites.

Analytics and Improvement: We use your Personal Information to better understand how users access and use the Services, for other research and analytical purposes, and to evaluate and improve the Services.

Protect Legal Rights and Prevent Misuse: We use your Personal Information to protect the Services, prevent unauthorized access and other misuse, and investigate and prevent illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, or violations of our Terms and Conditions or this Policy.

Comply with Legal Obligations: We use your Personal Information to comply with the law or legal proceedings, including responding to lawful requests by public authorities, such as national security or law enforcement disclosure requirements.

General Business Operations: We use your Personal Information for the administration of our general business, accounting, record-keeping, and legal functions.

We take your privacy seriously and do not rent, trade or sell your Personal Information to anyone. However, we may share or disclose information about our users in the following limited circumstances:

We may be required to disclose your Personal Information in response to valid requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
Security Measures

We use appropriate technical, organizational, and administrative security measures to protect any information we hold in our records from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no company or service can guarantee complete security.


Personal Information Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out above. We will retain your account profile data as necessary for our legitimate business purposes or to comply with our legal obligations. Legitimate business purposes that we may rely on to keep your personal information when you are not a customer include direct marketing (where you have not opted-out), maintaining business intelligence systems for analytics and other internal purposes, and more. We will ensure that your information is disposed of in a secure manner when it is no longer required.

Is Personal Information about Me Secure?

Your account is protected by a password for your privacy and security. You must prevent unauthorized access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately and limiting access to your computer or device and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account.

Data Collection

We collect certain information related to your device when you use the BEX® sites, such as your device's IP address, referring website, visited pages, and the time of the visit. Cookies are used to collect this information. We also keep track of user activity on the BEX® sites through application audit controls and log files.

We do not sell or trade your Personal Information. We may share and disclose information, including Personal Information, to third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers, our affiliated chapters, or to comply with law or court order.

We use appropriate technical, organizational, and administrative security measures to protect your information. Your account is protected by a password, which should be appropriately selected and protected. However, no company or service can guarantee complete security.

Privacy Rights

International Data Transfers

Your Personal Information is stored on the BEX® servers or our hosted service providers' cloud servers on our behalf, mainly located in Canada and/or the United States. We will always protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy wherever it is processed.

Linked Websites

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any Linked Sites or companies that we do not own or control. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of each Linked Site that you visit to understand how the information collected about you is used and protected.

Children's Personal Information

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe that a child under 13 may have provided us Personal Information, please contact us at privacy@BEX®.org.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
